My great and sadly late friend, who rose to the highest level in one of the major banks.felt that banking was finished in the 1980s and would go through a great contracting in the 1990s. Could the problems of the banking system, be that they’d completely misjudged this contraction? After all, Egg started in 1996 and that was the first writing on the wall. Zopa could be considered by some to have been hatched out of Egg.

My daughter is great fan of Emma Bridgwater Polka Dot crockery etc, and since I sometimes buy her some, I am on their emailing list. Just before Easter they were selling chocolate tea pots, and since said daughter has a collection of tea pots, I had one sent to her. it has joined the collection though, she says it is much too cute to eat!

Ours had got really tatty, and I ordered some carved wood ones from one or other of the fairly traded type places at Christmas – Tearcraft I think. They are standing up well to my tea drinking habits, and dont seem to stain much, even from the hot cups, and if they do, a wipe over sorts them out. I am very pleased with them.

I can’t use trains as you know – but often when we go we are either taking or bringing back large amounts of things such as veggies from allotment which would be difficult/impossible by train, there are also several of us, which makes cost of public transport higher, especially as Neil gets personal mileage included with his company car. We drive in early hours of morning so after from around Dartford, there isn’t much traffic.
